Janus is the browser extension of Palatine Labs, an automation control room that you host yourself.
What Janus reads
While a recording is running, or while a Palatine Labs bot is driving a tab, Janus reads the page: element descriptions, visible text, the values you type into form fields, and screenshots of the tab. Outside those two situations Janus reads nothing.
What it never reads
The value of a password field. It is excluded from recorded events, from element and page observations, and from every read action, without exception.
Where it goes
To one place: the Palatine Labs agent running on the same computer, over Chrome's own native messaging, which passes it to the Palatine Labs control room you run. There is no network socket: the browser starts the agent's native host and talks to it over that pipe alone. There is no Palatine Labs cloud service; we operate no server and receive nothing. No data is sold, shared, or used for advertising, profiling, or credit decisions.
What is stored in the browser
Nothing that identifies you and no credential. The extension keeps no bridge port and no shared token: those belonged to a pairing that no longer exists, and any left by an older version are deleted at startup. Since version 0.6.1 Janus also writes nothing into the pages it observes.
